‘and then there were none’ poster

This poster is part of a larger project that I did in my final year of university where I created movie style posters for classic novels. I researched how the imagery, colour palette, and typography illustrate the genre of film on movie posters and used this to make illustrated posters for books from different genres.

This poster is for And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie, using the visual language of the posters for various murder mystery films, including Knives Out, Clue, and Death on the Nile (1978), as well as many others.

In this poster, I also wanted to focus on creating a very busy, full scene with lots of seemingly random objects, seeing how many details I could add in without ever actually spoiling the mystery. The intention is for the viewer to look back at the image after having read the book/watched the movie with an understanding of what everything means, and it can serve as a search-and-find type illustration for the story.
